“Glee” fans have been wondering how the show will continue after the tragic death of Cory Monteith, and now show creator Ryan Murphy has spoken to TV Line about how “Glee” will move forward.

Murphy revealed that “Glee” will air its first two episodes normally, with the premiere date a week after its original schedule, and have Monteith’s character, Finn, die in Episode 3 before the show goes on hiatus.
The new episode 1 premiere date will be on September 26. The cast and crew will return to filming, with Monteith’s on- and off-air girlfriend Lea Michele’s permission.
“Ultimately, what we decided to do for the cast and crew was start shooting with something that we had already written,” Murphy said, adding that two Beatles episodes had been in the works for years.
“We just decided that it would probably be the best for everybody to get back together and be working and have grief counselors on set for two weeks, which we’re going to do,” he added. “But, ultimately, we made no decisions without consulting Lea.”
“She was very adamant that she thought it was best for the cast and crew to get back together sooner [rather] than later so that mortgages could be paid and people could take care of their families,” said Murphy.
“Cory was so beloved that she felt people really needed to be together in this time. So we sort of followed her lead.
Finn’s absence won’t be addressed in the first two episodes, and his character will die in Episode 3. Then, the show will go off air for a long hiatus.
“Right now we’re writing the third episode, which deals with Finn’s death – which, you can imagine, is a very difficult episode to write,” Murphy said. “[It] has to be done very carefully and with a lot of taste and really making sure that it’s a tribute to Cory.”
Murphy added that Michele will returning to filming and will be part of the first two episodes, as well as the third.
“She wants to be with people. The [Glee] family is her family. She wants to be with the cast and the crew,” Murphy said.

Cory Monteith Autopsy Reveals Heroin, Alcohol Caused 'Glee' Star's Death

The "Glee" star died of "mixed-drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol," according to an initial autopsy report conducted by the British Columbia Coroner's Service.

Monteith was found dead in his 21st-floor hotel room at the upscale Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver on July 13. Hotel staff discovered his body after he missed his noon checkout time. He was 31.

The investigation into his death by thecoroner's office is continuing. No additional details were immediately available. Once the investigation is completed, a coroner's report will be issued. Funeral details have not been released.

Autopsy and pharmacology tests were being fast-tracked, given the widespread media attention surrounding Monteith's sudden death. The Vancouver police held an impromptu news conference Saturday night to get out ahead of the story and prevent media speculation from escalating.

In March, Monteith voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility for substance abuse. It was the actor's second trip in rehab, having also done a stint when he was 19. Production on Glee was not impacted, but Monteith was written out of the final two episodes of season four. The actor, who became the face of Fox's global phenomenon after the series launched in 2009, received the full support of the network, producers 20th Century Fox Television and his real-life girlfriend and on-screen love interest, Lea Michele.

"I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this," Michele told THR at the time. "I am grateful and proud he made this decision." 

"I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100 percent," co-creatorRyan Murphy wrote at the time. Added co-creator Brad Falchuk: "Cory is like a son to me. He knows I love him."

Michele has yet to comment on Monteith's passing. Monteith and Michele, who have played the on-again, off-again onscreen couple Finn and Rachel since Glee's inception, went public with their romance last year. In late June, the cast gathered for press photos, with Michele tweeting an image that included the late actor with his signature wide smile.

Monteith was not shy about his past issues with drugs and substance abuse. In a revealing interview with Paradein 2011, he admitted he was "out of control" by the time he turned 16, nine years after his parents divorced. "Anything and everything, as much as possible," he said of his drug use during his teen years. "I had a serious problem."

It's unclear whether Glee will make its planned Sept. 19 season-five premiere. Monteith was slated to be a major player in the first few episodes, and the cast was scheduled to resume production on the series later this month. Historically, Glee has not been afraid to take on major issues. During its first four seasons, the Fox musical has addressed teen pregnancy, eating disorders, texting while driving and more. The series has only briefly touched on death.

Glee's Matthew Morrison dedicated an a capella version of the A Chorus Line song, "What I Did for Love," Sunday at a show in New York City's 54 Below. Michele had performed the song onGlee during its second season.

Glee fans may have to wait a bit longer to see Season 5 of the hit Fox show.
In light of Cory Monteith’s passing, NY Daily News reports that the network may be pushing the premiere until November, 2 months after it’s original airdate in September.
According to sources, there would be a delay in “production for about a month, to let everyone breathe.”
The new season, which would’ve put Cory‘s character Finn back at William McKinley High School as the Glee Club’s co-advisor and heading towards a teaching degree at the University of Lima, was set to premiere in September ahead of postseason Major League Baseball coverage.

'Glee' star Cory Monteith found dead in hotel in Canada

(CNN) -- Cory Monteith, who played heart throb Finn Hudson in the Fox hit "Glee," was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room Saturday, police said. He was 31.

Vancouver police said the cause of death was not immediately apparent, but they ruled out foul play.

Medical examiners will conduct an autopsy Monday.

Monteith's body was discovered by staff members at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel after he missed his checkout time, acting Chief Constable Doug LePard told reporters.

He had checked into his room July 6.

The actor apparently had several people over to his room at one point Friday night, but LePard said Monteith was seen on hotel surveillance video returning to his room in the early morning hours by himself.

One of his castmates on "Glee," Mark Salling, tweeted a simple "no" after police held their news conference.

Dot-Marie Jones, who plays the football coach at the fictional William McKinley High tweeted: "I have no words! My heart is broken. Cory was not only a hell of a friend, he was one amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever.

"I am blessed to have worked with him and love him so much! My heart is with his family and our whole Glee family! I love you all!"

On the show, Monteith played the dim quarterback of the football team at the Ohio high school who is forced to join the glee club. After graduation, he comes back to town and helps direct a musical at the school.

Offscreen, he was dating co-star Lea Michele.

"We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss," his publicist, Melissa Kates, said in an e-mail.

Monteith spent time in rehab this year, checking into a drug addiction treatment facility in late March.

He had been frank about his struggles with substance abuse, telling Parade magazine in 2011 that he began using drugs at 13, and by 19 went into rehab after his mother and friends intervened.

Monteith had been on the musical comedy show since it began in 2009.

In 2011, he won a Teen Choice Award for top actor in a comedy. The show's cast won a Screen Actors Guild Award for an ensemble in a comedy the previous year.

He was in three projects that are in post-production, according to the Internet Movie Database.

One of them was a movie entitled "All The Wrong Reasons," also starring Kevin Zegers. He tweeted that his heart was broken.

"I've never lost a friend this close. This feels like a mistake," he wrote.

Glee Season 5: American Idol's Adam Lambert Joins the Cast!

Glee is getting a major dose of glam rock for Season 5. Adam Lambert, the guyliner-clad runner up of American Idol Season 8, will be joining the cast.
Creator Ryan Murphy announced the news on Twitter July 10, writing, "I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall."
Nothing else is known about Adam's role on the show so far, though we did notice that Ryan says he'll be joining the cast. It doesn't sound like this is just some one-time guest spot.
Since Adam is 31, we're willing to guess that he will show up in New York City instead of McKinley High School, though of course we don't really know for sure.He could be a student at NYADA, or one of the actors in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl, assuming Rachel (Lea Michele) gets the part.
There have also been reports that Kurt (Chris Colfer) will be joining a band in Season 5. Dare we think that Adam's character might also be in give band? And if so, is it possible that he might be a potential new love interest for Kurt? Not exactly the sort of thing Blaine (Darren Criss) fans want to think about, obviously. Still, it could be a possibility.

Glee Season 5: Look Who's Back to Work — and Who’s Not!

Glee Season 5 won’t premiere until September 19, but the cast is already back to work! That’s right, summer break is over. It’s time to get started on making that Glee magic happen.
On June 26, Lea Michele (Rachel) tweeted, “Gotta get my beauty sleep tonight for our #GleeSeason5 photo shoot tomorrow! SO excited! Can't wait to see everyone! #BerryIsBack”
The cast hasn’t begun filming quite yet, but they are all meeting together to take the first official promo photos for Season 5. We know for a fact that Naya Rivera (Santana) will be there. On June 27, she tweeted, “Gallery shoot! #GleeSeason5”

Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) tweeted, “It's already here?! It's a McKinley reunion today at the #gleeseason5 photoshoot!” She then posted a behind-the-scenes photo that also included Kevin McHale (Artie) and Jacob Artist (Jake).
At that point, the three high schoolers were all dress in their usual clothes. Later that day, Kevin posted an Instagram video of the cast taking some time off for a goofy dance break — and both Kevin and Tina were dressed in up in their graduation caps and gowns.
However, not everyone from the cast was present at the shoot. Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schuester) was in London yesterday, so we don’t think it’s likely that he would be back in the States already. Plus,Darren Criss (Blaine) is currently out on tour, and he has a concert in Philadelphia tonight. No way he was able to make it to the shoot. Perhaps they’ll be photographed later?

Also missing are Heather Morris (Brittany), Dianna Agron (Quinn), Mark Salling (Puck), Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike), who have all been written off the show, save for a few possible guest appearances.
Sigh. Glee is back... but that doesn’t mean everyone will be returning. Why is change so hard to deal with?

Since the dawn of time — or at least since Glee began — leading actress Lea Michele (Rachel) has been the subject of an endless amount of diva rumors. The Broadway vet has a killer set of pipes and an undeniably star quality, and she just can’t seem to shake the ever-present reports of a diva personality that often goes along with it.
But is being known as a diva really a bad thing? Based on a recent Twitter post, the Glee star appears to be embracing her diva personality to the fullest. Lea attended Beyonce’s July 1 concert in Los Angeles, and the next day, she posted this super-fierce Twitter selfie with the caption, “FVOAH.”
For anyone less familiar with the music of Beyonce, that stands for “Female Version of a Hustler” — a key line in Bey’s hit, “Diva.” (A song that Glee has covered on the show, naturally.)
To quote Queen Bey, “A diva is a female version of a hustler.” Are you surprised to see Lea embrace her status as a diva, or does it not shock you one bit? After all, Beyonce’s song touts the term “diva” as a badge of honor.
If a woman is fabulous, talented and confident, shouldn’t that be celebrated — and not turned into something she needs to feel ashamed of? Lea Michele can be a diva if she wants to. What is wrong with that?
