Jessica Sanchez made her long-awaited Glee debut at the tail end of Season 4, but we’re still not sure if her character — Frida Romero, the diva lead songstress from  a rival school — will be back for Season 5.
Now, Jessica has only appeared in two Glee episodes so far, so when Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with her at TrevorLIVE in New York City on June 17, we had to ask if she had any interest in coming back next year.
“I hope so,” the former American Idol finalist told us. “I mean Jane Lynch is here, so like... [mimes nudging]” C’mon, Jane. Put in a good word for her!
Unfortunately, because the New Directions beat out Frida’s Hooiserdaddies at Regionals, the losing group won’t be back for another competition. Still, that doesn’t mean that Jessica’s character has to be gone for good. We bet there are plenty of other non competition-based ways to work her character into the script.
For now, Jessica is keeping plenty busy. “My album is out. It's called Me, You, and the Music so you can go get it on iTunes and all that. I was on the Glee season finale. I’m doing radio shows here and there. So I'm just doing everything.”
That includes giving back. Jess was one of the performers at TrevorLIVE, an event that benefits The Trevor Project, an organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to youth who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning.
“Well I did the the Trevor Project in LA, and I fell in love instantly. I am so supportive of gay rights, and I stand full force towards this,” she says. “I'm just really happy to be here to support, and to perform, and to spread the word.”
